Breakdown
Black Eagle Arrow's Front of Center Outsert System (F.O.C.O.S) is designed for those who want more weight up front and ease of use of outserts. The F.O.C.O.S. is made up of three components. The first is a black anodized 7075 T6 aluminum alloy outsert. The second is a stainless steel retention post, which also acts as a footer inside the shaft. Third, is the 3/32 Allen head retention screw that allows for the outserts to either be screwed or screwed and glued. Black Eagle tested this system up to 550 pounds per square inch of pulling power and the system stays on the shaft. If you are looking for maximum F.O.C. for maximum penetration and shot-after-shot performance, then the Rampage/Renegade F.O.C.O.S. from Black Eagle Arrows is what you're looking for. Black Eagle recommends an insertion depth of the arrow into the outsert to be .610" or approximately 5/8" with the outserts adding approximately 1.090" of length to the end of the arrow.
- Select the correct outsert for the right arrow shaft
- Glue in Stainless steel retention post
- Dry fitting is recommended on all components. Slide outserts over the shaft and spin test
- If the outsert does not fit, that is ok. Use 100 grit sandpaper and lightly sand the shaft in a circular motion until the outsert fits snugly on the shaft. Start slowly and dry fit often so you don't remove too much of the arrow shaft
- Note: You should have approximately 3/4" insertion when using Aluminum outserts
- Wipe dust off the shaft with a clean paper towel (Cleaners are not recommended)
- Again, spin test to ensure concentricity.
- Use a silver or black sharpie and mark the shaft and outsert for perfect alignment
- de outsert over the shaft and use a 3/32" retention screw and lock the outsert in place
- If using glue, see the following steps
- Black Eagle has tested their fletching glue, insert/outsert glue, and epoxy and they all work great
- Apply an even amount of glue around the shaft to ensure you get enough glue in the grooves to hold
- Slide outsert on a shaft rotating to make sure glue/epoxy is evenly dispersed
- Use the 3/32" retention screw and lock the outsert in place
- Once the outsert is glued on and the screw is installed stand the arrow on the nock end to dry
