This is a vintage Nancy Drew book titled The Secret in the Old Attic published by Grosset & Dunlap during WWII. This example is the 1944 1st edition, 2nd printing as per Farahs Guide. It has the Beverly Gray ad on the back of the DJ and the Dana Girls ad on the back flap. The book was written by Mildred Wirt Benson under the pseudonym of Carolyn Keene, the 21st in the Nancy Drew series. It has a cloth hardcover printed with orange silhouette and text, orange silhouette endpapers and a plain paper frontispiece. It is in very good condition - the book itself is very clean inside with no pronounced page defects, except for a corner bump to the front cover, but there are two black stains on the back cover, not visible on the interior nor on the DJ. The front endpaper is signed in ink by the original owner. The dustcover, however, has minor edge wear, really minor, and a bit of moisture staining to the interior spine, not visible on the exterior, If it hadnt been for the marks on the back cover, I would have graded the book as near fine. Please view the enlarged photos for the condition described. Please note that due to scarcity of materials during the war, the quality of the paper was thinner and inferior, so has taken on a patina. Still, this is not a common book - great addition to a Nancy Drew collection!
